Purpose before possession
We seek only data that is relevant to a defined and authorised objective. More data is not automatically better.
Our public commitment
Data entrusted to DTL must be treated as a responsibility—not merely a resource.
We pledge to use data with purpose, protect it with discipline and communicate what it supports with professional honesty.
This pledge expresses the principles that guide our conduct. Contractual, confidentiality and data-processing obligations applicable to a specific engagement remain defined in its authorised terms.
Seven commitments
We seek only data that is relevant to a defined and authorised objective. More data is not automatically better.
We establish appropriate authority, roles and responsibilities before handling sensitive client information.
Public enquiries remain separate from sensitive exchanges. Confidential information moves only through an approved channel under appropriate safeguards.
Access is limited according to role, need and engagement responsibilities, with proportionate controls around use and disclosure.
We distinguish what data demonstrates, what analysis indicates and what evidence ultimately proves. Limitations and assumptions remain visible.
We do not retain information indefinitely by default. Retention and secure disposal follow purpose, obligation and authorised terms.
Behind organisational data are people, rights and consequences. We pursue analytical value without losing sight of fairness, dignity and lawful treatment.
The DTL standard
Our work is designed to support better decisions, stronger governance and enduring trust—not to exaggerate certainty or create alarm.
